Co-Founder, Social Enterprise Success
Nyasha Gwatidzo sees herself as a serial global social entrepreneur for the past 30 years - being one before it became fashionable. Nyasha is an African woman, at heart, having been born in Zimbabwe.
She strongly relates to her African values of deep family connection which includes the sense of family being extended to the community in which you live.
Her journey has been a long, lonely one of doing business in the white male dominated environment of the UK.
In spite of the difficulties inherent in this, she has thrived on challenges and sees them as opportunities. Through her determinations she has won several awards, e.g. Social Entrepreneur of the Year, Business Woman of the Year, and Community Awards for her work with Vana Trust and Banya Family placement Agency.
As an entrepreneurial and seasoned executive, Nyasha has extensive experience of start-ups followed by rapid and sustainable growth. She has a strong track record of identifying new market opportunities and developing them profitably into multi-million pound social enterprises; for example Banya, which finds foster families for children in care to local authorities.
Her vision for the future is making global connections/mentoring social entrepreneurs, who inspire her every day through a social impact investment fund, which will help women in particular, to reach economic independence through enterprise.
On a personal level Nyasha is mother of 3 children, a wife and grandmother. Her children keep her grounded.
